The pieces I'm listing now are the extensive collection of a very talented lady in Tulsa who loved Christmas and decorated enthusiastically for many years. She has moved into assisted living and had to dispose of many of her treasures. I am helping to find them good homes!
What has impressed me most is how meticulously she kept track of her tiny treasures as she added them. Each piece is noted with the date she bought it on the bottom (you'll see this in many of the pictures) and then recorded carefully in a loose-leafed notebook.
She bought many pieces new but a great many more of them she found at estate sales in the area...which means they pre-date even the date she gave them. This explains why some of the things I'll be listing I've found to be quite in the vintage category!
Where I have been able to find information on issue dates (especially on the houses) I'm including that; if you collect these pieces you may know far more than I do!
What I've found in putting these items together is that I have overlooked a very, very charming part of the joy of decorating for Christmas...I've been delighted...and chuckled... and oh'd and ah'd...as I've sorted through them!
I hope you find something here you've been looking for, or something you'll fall in love with, and the traditions this sweet lady enjoyed for so many years will continue to bring happiness!
This might just be my favorite set! The chess players are deep in their game no matter the weather!
One fellow is about to make a move; the other is anticipating what might happen. Don't you just love the keg?
They are made of hydrostone and are in excellent condition. This has some of the greatest detailing I have seen outside of expensive replicas. Pieces are 2"x 2-1/2" wide.
This will be a great addition to any village!
It took a while to decide how best to list these smaller pieces: personally I don't like to have to buy a "dozen" of something when I only need a "few." The small things only weigh a few ounces; combining groups will cut down drastically on shipping...or they can ride along quite nicely with the larger pieces without adding to the cost. Hope you'lll keep that in mind!
